Description
Here is graphite piece #5 as well as being my second attempt at drawing the wonderfully talented British actor Richard Armitage portraying the character 'Thorin Oakenshield' of 'The Hobbit' movie trilogy.
I had originally started it back in May, right after completing my first Thorin drawing (lucky me, I guess I was on a bit of a roll at the time ) only to completely stall after completing just the face- leaving the piece sad and abandoned for several weeks on my dinning room table.
But, thanks to Durinheir and her wonderfully sweet endeavor... I more or less pushed myself into action again, so that this drawing might be part of her little birthday project- as so very thoughtful and lovely as it sounds.
This drawing was created in a 9"x12" Strathmore fine toothed surface sketch pad, using graphite pencils ranging from 4H thru 6B, blending stumps and my trusty, beloved kneaded eraser using this photo: i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l… as a visual reference.
I honestly tried my best to follow the photo for the most part, only choosing to intentionally soften the eyes a bit in this piece. But, I guess as I got down to the wire, I more or less ran out of patience while trying to draw the tedious details of his brigadine. *sighs* So, I hope you will forgive my little personal interpretation of his frustratingly intricate garment.
In the end, I also gave this drawing a quick run through in PS CS5 to enhance the contrast a tad bit- since I am at the moment, still really too unsure about trying to add charcoal to my graphite drawings just yet.
All in all, I hope you like it.
As always, comments and concrit are most welcome since I am still in the process of trying to learn and practice as much as I can, during what little bits and pieces of undisturbed 'me' time RL will allow me.
